‘RESURRECTION DES OUBLIES’
Objective of this project: Identifying issues and finding solutions.
Between abandoned cars, discarded bottles, old abandoned canoes, devalued activities… an object hunt took shape, from the city of Vallijee to the ‘Sable Noir Beach’ in Port-Louis. We combined art and architecture to showcase these neglected treasures and bring the site's activities back to life. The “Resurrection des oubliés” was a project in the form of 4 microarchitectures:
1. ‘Les fibres de la rue’ : The re-use of clothing, treated as a roofing element for outdoor terraces.
2. ‘Le Monstre de Ferraille’ : The use of transportation as a structural element for a workshop for artists.
3. ‘The Super Ring’ : The re-use of newspapers and packets of candy for a space dedicated to Taekwondo and the activities that are organized on the beach.
4. ‘Retour du passé’ : Bottles were thrown into the sea to create a floating structure that combines music and history relating to the ship wreck in the sea.
Bamboo was also used as one of the structural materials.
This project brings local art back to life, an art created from everyday objects and activities of these inhabitants.
